The helicopter was high in the sky already, there was no chance of going back down without jumping out. Although, I was shaking in fear some part of me was quite excited to take the adventure. It was time, time to jump out of the helicopter to skydive. I wanted to start screaming before jumping out, but I had to save the screams for the jump. Once I jumped out, I screamed part excitement and part fear. Then I felt like I was flying it was amazing, it was my ultimate adventure!

The faint of a text in the isolated basement frightened Amanda, she had never felt so guilty in her life. The silence was deafening, although she didn't want to hear any noise at the moment, her heart was pounding that was the only noise she could hear but didn't want to hear. Amanda, had heard the police siren she ran out the basement onto her bike through the woods and to her house to hide the evidence she will always hide with a smile.
Toby, was only five when his parents left him at the orphanage. Toby, always wondered why his parents would leave him at the orphanage did he do something wrong? Why spend five years with your child, and then dump him at an orphanage, he thought. Toby grew, grew, and grew at the orphanage he was now fifteen, ten years had gone by and he still didn't have a home with loving parents. Toby had realized something while being at the orphanage, and that was that parents looking for children only wanted smaller children, so he knew that he could never again have loving parents. He had heard Mrs. Land, (the owner of the orphanage) talking to a lawyer, saying that the orphanage had been sold. That night Toby was terrified he didn't know what was going to happen to him, where he would go. The next day he didn't want to go to school, or the day after, or the day after that, he had missed a month of school, although Mrs. Land didn't know until the school had called. Mrs. Land always was nice and generous to Toby and she knew he was a good kid she didn't know why he was acting so rebellion, she had no choice but to send him to a boys home where he would stay there. She told him the next day that he would go and that he was right, the orphanage had been sold, so she wouldn't be there because she was moving to Florida and there was nothing she could do from stopping the child services from taking him away. It was a Sunday morning when the child services came to take him to the boys home. When he got to the boys home he was taken to his room, which he shared with three other boys, two older and one younger. The next morning he had awoken to screaming, yelling, and kicking. The boys there were truly criminals, bullies. Toby was getting pushed around, stomped on and the owner of the boys home did not care about what went on and what happens. While time went on he grew up bruised, scared, and he would get nightmares of when he was left at the orphanage, he screamed to his mom cried, he didn't know why he was getting left. The owner of the Boys Home told Toby that he could leave that he should get a job and go, he was seventeen. Toby set out to find a job, and he did at a fast food restaurant that paid enough that he could afford an apartment. Toby was in his senior year he was lonely, with no friends spent most of his time reading at the library. The next week a girl came up to Toby at the library, she asked about the book he was reading. That night Toby couldn't stop thinking about the girl he talked to for hours, that they even got kicked out her name was Veronica. The next day he asked her out , all though she had said no, she told him that she would break his heart she had left crying. He didn't understand why such bad things would happen to him, it was like all of his life was a nightmare. Toby was reading a book that his mom had left him, and while reading it a letter had fallen out he read it, Dear beloved son, I'm deeply sorry for leaving you at the orphanage, I want you to know that it was the best I could do for you me and your father got divorced and I lost my job and all my money. There was no possible way I could have taken care of you, and besides that I have a heavy medical bill, but despite that you won't have to worry about me, I won't be on this earth much longer, Toby, I love you and I'm sorry your dad did not care for you please forgive me and know that I love you and wished I could have given you a better life. Love, Your mom Toby was in tears, was it true this was the best for him? Toby, realized there was not much the world could offer for him, but maybe he can offer to the world. Toby, got a scholarship to a University where he studied law, and grew to be a millionaire where he did give to the world and helped kids at orphanages, where he told his life story to the children. Toby, got married and a little girl which he gave her something nobody gave him which was love. Sara, walks into the isolated street after awakening from the cold hard ground. Sara, has a blank mind, meaning she can't remember anything, the only thing she can remember is that her name is Sara, not even being able to remember het last name, and that she is fifteen. She is in a vacant street, abandoned, and has no memory whatsoever of her life. Sara, begins to walk farther down the street, she screams for an answer, but no answer the only thing she could hear is the echo of her scream.
In 1963 Dr. King wrote one of his most famous speeches, "I Have a Dream." Dr. King wrote this speech to make a point, which was that there will be no satisfaction until there is equality and freedom. King also wrote the speech to show that even after a hundred years African Americans still don't have equality in American society. King tries to proves that there should be no segregation and racism anymore. The most important thing King tries to do is, to free the slaves in the south, to let the Negro's have equality. Not only does King use a metaphor for most of the speech, but also uses powerful and inspirational words to show emotion. King used powerful words, such as " withering injustice, chains of discrimination, poverty, prosperity, staggered by the winds' those are just a few powerful and inspirational words and phrases from the speech. A sentence I think is very powerful, and King uses as a vigorous metaphor is" One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination." King uses a vigorous metaphor to explain how the manacles and chains Negro's wore when the were slaves represent segregation (colored folks and white folks are separated) and discrimination (they are not being treated equal.) King knew that slavery in the south mattered, because there was no equality and King had a dream that one day everybody would have equality. King had a dream, and that was that one day there would be equality, his dream did and did not come true, yes, there is equality in the world now, but there is still racism and discrimination happening even in modern day now. An example of discrimination, would be all the cases of white police men killing innocent African American and the rioting going on. An example of racism, stereotype a race because it is not completely true. These are just two simple examples of racism and discrimination, there is much more happening in our world that King dreamed would not be more, but sadly still is. Although, King's dream only partially came true, equality and segregation did come true. An example of equality would be, that white and colored folks are treated the same anywhere they go, at least they are supposed to be treated the same, there is even the golden rule that says " treat others the way you want to be treated." An example of having no more segregation, would be that white and colored children get to go to the same school and are treated equal and are friends. So, King did and did not have his dream come true, but King is a very inspirational person and will always be, that is why we have a day dedicated to him. |
